Robert Fripp (born 16 May 1946) is an English musician, songwriter, and record producer, best known as the guitarist, founder and longest-lasting member of the progressive rock band King Crimson. He has worked extensively as a session musician and collaborator, notably with David Bowie, Blondie, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Daryl Hall, Midge Ure and David Sylvian. In 1974, Robert Fripp—leader of the progressive rock group King Crimson—had a spiritual experience in which ' the top of his head blew off. ' He became a student of J. Bennett, himself a former student of G. Gurdjieff, at Sherborne. This is the fifth track off of King Crimson’s fourth studio album, Islands. The original basis for the song “Prelude: Song of the Gulls” is derived from the Giles, Giles and Fripp song.
Robert Fripp worked at Microsoft's studios to record new sounds and atmospheres for Windows Vista. 13 14 this interesting factoid: in addition to 200 million Vista users with the 4 note splash, an extract from the Soundscapes’ Vista sessions is estimated to strike up 91% of 32 trillion times on the new MS Mail programme this year.

Discussion[edit]
New standard tuning offers thirds-based chords with simple fingerings; in particular, triads can be simply inverted with little left-hand movement. Since tertian triads and seventh chords are are the fundamental chords of conventional music, new standard tuning can be considered by guitarists wishing to play conventional music, for example jazz standards.
Coda: Caveats and acknowledgments[edit]
The acknowledgments to Robert Fripp, Guitar Circle, and Guitar Craft are for only identification purposes. I have no affiliation with Fripp or Guitar Circle, and I have not sought approval of this work (which has not received review). In 2014 I am delighted to note that Fripp's blessings included this 2013 benediction on NST popularization:
Tony Levin
'I love the idea of the NST leaving the cloister and being useful in the wider world. Let’s give the NST a helpful shove on its way.'
The music was typeset with Guitar Pro 6, which generated the associated image (png and pdf) and audio (wav and midi) files. The first (2013) version was typeset using GNU Lilypond (via the Frescobaldi interface for editing).
